The Immigrant Song Tab by Led Zeppelin

The Immigrant Song tab by Led Zeppelin

Guitar Tab

Recorded by Led Zeppelin on Led Zeppelin III(1970)

Copyright atlantic records.

Ok, there is a part at the beginning of this song that lasts only 3 seconds, that comes right before the main riff and is VERY quiet, but turn up the volume and you'll here it!

Here is the tab for it:
e|-----------------|
B|-----------------|
G|-----------------|
D|-----------------|
A|-----------6b8---|
E|-5-5-5-5-5-------|
Now, the world famous main riff:

e|---------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------|
D|----------4-------------4-------------4------|
A|---------------------------------------------|
E|--2--2-2-----2--2-2-2------2--2-2-2-------2--|

Play that 20 times(well the main riff 20 times not the above full phrase)

on top of that, Robert begins to sing and the tablature for the vocal part is:

e|---------------------------------------|
B|--12-9--12-11----11----11----11-12-8---|
G|---------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------|

Play that twice, then at the last repeat of the main riff, play these chords over the "Come To The land of the ice and snow" part

e|------------------------------------|
B|-------2~---------------2~----------|
G|-------2~-----1~--1~----2~----------|
D|-11\---2~-----2~--2~----2~----------|
A|-11\----------2~--2~----------------|
E|------------------------------9-8\--|

The only chords are A major and E minor. A major is the 2-2-2 and the E minor is the 1-2-2.

During the next part go back to the main riff.

Then during the last part of the verse play this:

e|--------------------------|
B|--2-----------------------|
G|--2-----------------------|
D|--2---8---10--12---4-4-4--|
A|------X---X---X----4-4-4--|
E|------6---8---10---2-2-2--|

then return to the main riff.

For the first part of the 2nd verse

play the first 3 chords of the above tab but with vibrato(~).

That's pretty much the entire song.. Besides the ending which is when you play the main riff 4 times and then play a D power open-position chord

The tab for that is:

e|---------------------------------------------|
B|------------------5-----------------------5--|
G|------------------5-----------------------5--|
D|---------4--------5------------4----------5--|
A|---------------------------------------------|
E|-2--2-2-----2--2------2--2-2-------2--2------|

Play this 7 times and then end on this tail of the main riff:

e|--------------|
B|--------------|
G|--------------|
D|--------4--4--|
A|-----------4--|
E|2--2-2-----2--|

Ok, I hope this has been helpful!

Also as a suggestion, if you are going to jam on this song, then it is cool if you and your bassist go back and forth the main riff and take turns soloing. Sounds particularly good if your soloing in F# blues!

Hope you enjoy!
