Creedence Clearwater Revival tabs

Creedence Clearwater Revival was a rock band from El Cerrito, California, USA. They were active in a relative short timespan from 1967 to 1972. During this time they had numerous hits which have become classics and are a natural part of any guitarist's repertoire. The band members were John Fogerty on lead guitar, Tom Fogerty on rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on bass and drummer Doug Clifford. Even though they originated from California their songs were often about, as you can see in these Creedence Clearwater Revival tabs, southern USA themes like catfish, the Mississippi river, bayous and so on.

Their music style were swamp rock and country rock. Even though they broke up in 1972 over differences related to artistic direction and the management of the band they remain immensely popular and still have widespread radio play. John Fogerty still tours as a solo artist, and he is playing the Creedence classics in addition to newer material. Prior to their last record John Fogerty had written all their songs. After the rest of the group demanded more influence, Fogerty insisted the rest of the members should contribute equally to the songwriting, singing and producing on the album "Mardi Gras". The album was a failure both artistically and commercially so most of the popular Creedence Clearwater Revival tabs are from the early days. The group broke up shortly after the release in 1972. Creedence Clearwater Revival's final performance were in October 1980, at the reception for Tom Fogerty's marriage to Tricia Clapper.

Creedence Clearwater Revival guitar tabs

John Fogerty's first guitar was a Silverstone. During the mid-sixties when he became active in bands he played a Fender Mustang. Later he used Rickenbacker 325. During the early Creedence years he played a Gibson ES-175 guitar. This guitar was stolen and he replaced it with a Gibson Les Paul. The old Rickenbacker and the Les Pauls remained Fogerty's main guitars during the whole Creedence era. You can of course use whatever instrument you like when you play these Creedence Clearwater Revival tabs, and you should still be able to get the right sound
